End-to-End Encryption Information

Citadel Team allows you to enable end-to-end encryption in a specific room to ensure that only you and the people you are speaking with will be able to decrypt the messages and files exchanged. This involves generating encryption keys unique to each of your devices.

Without access to these keys, it will be impossible for you to decrypt the messages

Each time you log out, secret items (including encryption keys) are deleted (a pop-up warns the user). Therefore, a user who is connected on only one device and logs out without backing up first will lose all their encryption keys.

To avoid this:

• Log in on another device as well, which allows you to synchronize your encryption keys if needed.

• Manually export your keys (in Advanced Settings > Security > Export Keys), to be re-imported at your next login.
